What are fire-rated cable clips and ties used for?

Fire cable clips and ties are designed to secure fire alarm and emergency system cables in place, ensuring they remain fixed during a fire. This is essential for maintaining circuit integrity and allowing systems to function as long as possible.

Do fire cable supports need to be metal?

Yes. According to BS 5839-1 and BS 7671, plastic fixings alone are not sufficient. Fire cables must be supported using metal clips or ties that can withstand high temperatures without melting or detaching.

What products do you recommend?

For fast installation, we recommend the Linian FireClip (6–8mm) – a popular, one-piece design that reduces install time with no screws or plugs required.

For a more budget-friendly option, the FireSmart 8mm Red P-Clip is reliable, compliant, and great for standard two-core cable runs.

What’s the recommended spacing for clips?

As a general rule:

Horizontal runs: no more than 300mm apart
Vertical runs: no more than 400mm apart
Always follow manufacturer guidance and current regulations.
